Discussion on Torture with the participation of Juan Mendez, UN Special Rapporteur on Torture, and Andrea Galindo, Director of the Robert F. Kennedy Training Institute

On November 17th in Florence, Amnesty International Italy organized an event to address the issue of torture with the special participation of Juan Mendez, who talked about his work and activities as the UN Special Rapporteur on Torture. To represent the Robert F. Kennedy Center for Justice and Human Rights Andrea Galindo, Director of the Robert F. Kennedy Training Institute, discussed the international and European Protection Mechanisms against torture. The event was part of the Amnesty International’s campaign “Stop Torture”, dedicated to the struggle against torture and raising awareness on the countries which do not acknowledge torture as a crime, Italy among them.
